Noise Filter is a filter Which Remove unwanted Noise.
In Other words Noise cancelling means cancelling Noise in Particular frequency range.
How Filters Used To Cancel Noise ?
Noise-cancelling headphones cancel sounds using Noise cancelling filter in other words noise cancelling means cancelling particular frequency range
you see Human speaks range is 125 Hz to 8 kHz.
and Human hearing range you know that 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz
I will give you perfect example that
If you recording or speaking to someone in mobile in traffic your range of frequency will be 125 Hz to 8 kHz.
avg. traffic frequency range is above 1000 Hz
If we accurately measuring or considering means human speaking in mobile freq range is 300 to 3400 Hz.
as you see you will normally speak in mobile is 500 Hz to 900 Hz
now noise cancel filter will cut above and below 500 Hz to 900 Hz because you to remove traffic noise which is above or exact 1000 Hz .
So noise cancelling filter is a frequency canceler particular frequency range
this one simple example to understand how noise-cancelling filter works
In Complex example your both message or voice you need to hear and noise will be more or less in same range and mix well
generally active noise filter will use for noise cancelling
